Local BTS Generation for ISDB-T/Tb

TxEdge ISDB is Enensys’ versatile solution to generate a BTS stream at the transmission site for the delivery of ISDB-T/Tb multiplex over MFN or SFN Networks. Acting as a Local BTS generator, it receives the incoming TS over ASI, over IP or directly from a DVB-S/S2 satellite input. Working as a standalone product, or in a conjuntion with a SmartGate-ISDB, the TxEdge covers several use cases, BTS decompression, BTS generation from a DTH stream with OneBeam single illumintation option, and BTS generation.

Highlights

BTS Generation

Operating at the transmission site prior to the ISDB-T/Tb transmitter, the TxEdge aims at generating a BTS stream from a MPEG-2 TS (SPTS/MPTS). It can receive the incoming TS over ASI, over IP or directly from a DVB-S/S2 satellite input. It generates IIP packet with TMCC data and outputs a BTS stream for the ISDB-T/Tb transmitter.

MFN & SFN Compliant

By default, The TxEdge is designed to deliver a local BTS stream for Multiple Frequency Networks (MFN) operation. It can support Single Frequency Network (SFN) broadcasting with OneBeam option. Based on a deterministic approach, all TxEdge will deliver the same content on the same frequency at the same time, to create an SFN cell.

BTS Decompression

Thanks to the decompression feature, upon reception of a compressed BTS coming either from a SmartGate-ISDB, or from any equipment generating a compressed BTS, the TxEdge will perform the decompression to deliver a BTS to the modulator with the expected bitrate.

DTH and ISDB-Tb combination

With OneBeam option, a standard MPEG-2 transport stream is distributed over satellite to optimize the satellite bandwidth by delivering only useful information providing significant cost savings. Locally, the TxEdge generates the BTS stream based on TbMarkers generated by the SmartGate-ISDB prior the satellite distribution. OneBeam allows to combine DTH and DTT services as well as the broadcasting of regional content in SFN environment.

Services Filtering and PSI/SI Update

The TxEdge supports multi-layer ISDB-Tb applications. It allows the filtering of incoming services, updates some SI information such as the service name, virtual channel number and enables to allocate the filtered services or PID to the different layers. Optionally, it can support BISS-1 descrambling. Combined with the ENENSYS TSDescrambler, it can descramble any services with a ProCAM module inserted in the TSDescrambler.

Emergency Warning System

As an option, it offers the support of Emergency Warning Broadcast System (EWBS) to inform about immediate dangers such as earthquakes, tsunami,... The TxEdge-ISDB supports EWBS signaling and is capable to modify the emergency descriptor information.
