It has now been 20 years since ENENSYS Technologies was founded to ride the wave of multiple innovations taking place in digital TV and mobile communications. Having developed many industry firsts within the broadcast sector since our inception in 2004, we now find ourselves well positioned to drive new innovations in the global public safety and critical communications market that will allow first responders and other critical users to take advantage of advances in 3GPP standards-based mission-critical services.

For several years now, ENENSYS Technologies has been at the forefront of research & development into the vital broadcast multicast technology – eMBMS – that enables mobile operators to deliver true critical communications at scale by allowing massive group voice and video calls and data transmissions over LTE, and soon 5G. Without such capabilities, it is hard to imagine the full transition from legacy solutions such as TETRA to the new generation.

Although eMBMS is a fundamental component of 3GPP mission-critical services from the outset, many agencies and users appear to be unaware of its benefits, or even in some cases, its very existence.

For this reason, we believe the time is right to publish the following White Paper, written by our Global Head Critical Communications, Peter Clemons, who also has been a leading industry expert for almost 3 decades now.
