SFN Synchronizers


Nowadays, consumers request for high-level quality of services and particularly when watching TV content. This mandates that broadcast and network operators guarantee the delivery of TV signal.

Single Frequency Network (SFN) for DVB-T and DVB-H networks is designed to broadcast the same content over the same frequency, enabling spectrum, bandwidth and network coverage optimization. The challenge in a Single Frequency Network is that transmitters shall deliver this content at the very same time.

Knowing that a single de-synchronization or wrong SFN signaling can disturb transmission and cause a complete TV black-out, operators tend to secure their SFN distribution link to meet consumers strong requirements. From the head-end toward each transmitter, operators implement double network paths (satellite, microwave, ...) to cope with one network failure. The challenge is that networks have different propagation delay.
