VisualOn Inc. and ENENSYS Technologies partner to bring the HDTV like quality to DVB-H
Amsterdam, September 8-12, 2006
VisualOn Inc. and ENENSYS Technologies partner to bring the HDTV like quality to DVB-H
By working together to ensure that VisualOn’s DVB-H Mobile TV client solution works flawlessly with ENENSYS DVB-H broadcast system for Mobile TV, the two companies have enabled H.264 broadcast content with AAC+ audio to be playback on client handsets at quality levels that were not viable on mobile devices until now.
"At ENENSYS we felt that the lack of high performance Mobile TV player on the client side had been restricting the growth of the Mobile TV market. We have been searching for a reliable partner to work with on the client side to ensure that the quality of our broadcast would not be compromised by the performance of multimedia player on the mobile handsets", said Nicolas FANNECHERE, VP Marketing at ENENSYS Technologies.
"We had about given up, feeling that the technology available on the client side would not be able to provide the level of quality we were looking for, given the bursty nature of DVB-H received data. But then we found the VisualOn solution and we were very impressed by its ability to playback H.264 content: we finally found our partner, reactive and ready for commitment. So we decided to include VisualOn H264 player in the DVB-H receivers we propose in our DVB-H Lab Kit and DVB-H Trial Kit. That way, our Customers will at last benefit from the complete DVB-H chain, from video encoding to video reception and high quality decoding."
The VisualOn DVB-H Mobile TV solution will parse the IP stream from the DVB-H receiver and decode on-the-fly the audio and video for playback on the mobile device, while the DVB-H transmission architecture is based on ENENSYS products: DVB-H IP Encapsulator, DVB-H SFN Adapter, DVB-H Modulator and RF Amplifier.
"VisualOn is very excited about the opportunity to work with one of the leading technology companies supporting DVB-H broadcasts. There is natural synergy between our companies and by working together we can help drive the adoption of DVB-H by consumers and help drive the growth of the mobile TV market", said Yang CAI, President of VisualOn. "A High performance client side player is only part of the solution needed to ensure that the consumer has a high quality viewing experience on the handset. We also need to make sure that the quality of the DVB-H broadcast is of the highest quality. ENENSYS solutions and technical team have demonstrated to us levels of quality we have not seen in other solutions available in the market."
