PR : DVB-T2 modulators to Arqiva
PRESS RELEASE – February the 10th, 2010
ENENSYS supply modulators for launch of Terrestrial High Definition TV over DVB-T2 in UK
In December 2009, the UK launched the first High Definition TV service in the world to use the new DVB-T2 transmission format.
After extensive testing in the laboratory and over air, Arqiva, the communications infrastructure and media services company, selected ENENSYS modulators for one of the launch transmitters, and a number of subsequent installations.
Transmissions from the Crystal Palace transmitter site started on 2nd December 2009, broadcasting services to the London area.
Transmitters at Black Hill (Glasgow), Pontop Pike (Newcastle), Lichfield (Birmingham), and Emley Moor (Leeds/Bradford) are due to be brought on-air during Spring 2010, all using the ENENSYS DVB-T2 modulator.
Michel Hello, Transmission Product Manager at ENENSYS, said: "Getting the DVB-T2 standard available on-air in the UK on time will enhance the experience of Digital TV for the end consumer making High Definition programmes available to a wider audience. ENENSYS is particularly proud to have joined forces for this new challenge with Arqiva to make DVB-T2 a reality in the UK”.
Mike Brooks, Head of Technical Development for DVB-T2 at Arqiva, added: “The launch of the World’s first DVB-T2 service is another landmark event for UK Digital Terrestrial Television, enhancing its position as the most widely adopted digital platform.”
