Single Frequency Network Adaptation

With frequency shortage currently running and given the price of broadcasting licenses in general, operating a Mobile TV or Digital Terrestrial TV in Single Frequency Network mode becomes evident when looking at the business plan.

Setting up one Single Frequency Network will make all transmitters broadcast the same content over the same frequency at the same time. Besides MIP (DVB ) / SIP ( DTMB ) insertion processing, failover ( SFN adapters failures ) has to be handled carefully to ensure continuous service delivery.

Key Features


SIP (DTMB) / MIP (DVB) Insertion

Based on GPS clock reference, SFN Adapter inserts into the TS stream all the information needed by transmitters to broadcast synchronously:
  • Timing information : Guaranteed synchronous transmission
  • Modulation parameters: Same OFDM symbols
  • Optional information: Individual transmitter addressing and RF coverage refinement (DVB only)

SFN Guard (ENENSYS Patent Pending)

In case of failure, switching from one SFN Adapter to the other will cause the modulator to lose SFN Synchronization.
ENENSYS has patented a 1 + 1 synchronization mechanism to ensure continuous delivery in SFN, namely SFNGuard.

ENENSYS' SFN Adapters product line encompasses DVB-T, DVB-H and DTMB (Chinese DTTV) standards.
